Going back to the Delta
What a weekend folks! Yesterday I went to Stockholm and bought myself a brand new National Duolian (NRP) resophonic guitar. It's an amazing guitar with super cool looks and the greatest blues sound you could ever wish for. For me this was a dream come true. This is the same kind of guitar that guys like Son House and Blind Boy Fuller among many other bluesmen used during the 30's and 40's. A guitar built to deliver loud intense blues. I've been dreaming of having a guitar like this since I first heard the sound in the early 90's. I bought a french version of the Style O (made by a Selmer-related company in the late 50's)that has served me well over the years and I have a couple of cheap ones but every now and then I've felt the urge to get a REAL National. Over the last year I've been thinking about it more frequently and now it's a fact; a National Duolian!!! Oh my God, a NATIONAL DUOLIAN!

In a few weeks we're reaching the 15 year anniversary of my very first blues festival appearance in Mönsterås. The days in Mönsterås back in 1995 together with David Book was so great. To be there among all the amazing blues artists and all the blues lovers felt wonderful. Since then I've played at more than 40 blues festivals in Scandinavia, Europe and USA. I feel extremely privileged to be a travelling blues artist and I honestly feel like the blues has saved my life, literally, more than once. It's a strong, almost religious, relationship too complex and serious to explain in words.
But like all intense relations I sometimes become that teenager that wants to break loose and run away from my destiny. I feel trapped and just want to leave it all behind and do something completely different. Especially after a gig like the one I did Friday night. Most things that can go wrong did.
